Tversted and Hirtshals are situated at the northwest corner of Danmark- surrounded by the sea, beautiful scenery and plenty of fresh air. In coastal areas there are kilometers of lovely, inviting sandy beaches and large dune plantations. This provides great opportunities for active nature holidays, fun play on the beaches and in the water, bike rides in the woods or along the coast, or pleasant walks. Or you can relax while enjoying the view of the beautiful, northern Jutland landscape.
First of all, it is the magnificent beaches, the sea and nature around Tversted and Hirtshals, which every year entices tourists to the area. The white sand beaches at Hirtshals and Tversted have all the new bathing flag that signals clean water and good facilities. A walk along the beach is a popular form of rekreation- whether the weather is at its harsh side, with large waves that races onto the beach, or on a hot summer day, where gentle waves bathes your feet. As soon as the weather permits it, the beaches can be enjoyed with a fresh swim, ball games and maybe hang gliding. The beaches of Tversted, is so wide that children can play in peace, even though the cars must also be there. Often blowing a fresh wind in coastal areas, but it should not put an end to the pleasures. Especially the beaches at Tversted, Kjul and Uggerby are perfect for windsurfing. And with a valid fishing is also allowed to fish from the beaches.
On both sides of Hirtshals there are large dune plantations as far as the eye can see. Here are marked routes of different lengths, but also lots of small trails where you can explore the forests. A walk in the woods is a hike in the unusual landscape as the ice age has created. In both eastbound and southbound directions are brought national cycle paths, which leads directly through respectively Tversted Klitplantage, Lilleheden Klitplantage and Tornby Klitplantage.
The nature around Hirtshals is generous with its resources and we can all take advantage. All year you can gather healthy wild food to savor on site or preserve for later. For some it becomes a passion to gather and preserve wild food.
